As a full time artist myself I see this as a positive in a very diificult time for the arts in Ireland - I am also fed up explaining to those who use the artists exemption as a stick to beat the arts with, that artists do pay PRSI, VAT and the income levy - plus galleries take up to 50% commission from any sales! so we do actually contribute to 'the system' without any of the securities (i.e pension plans, elegibility to social welfare etc...)
